Victorian-Like Style Remodel

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

This site is a single family home tucked away in the North Hollywood Hills in Universal City, Los Angeles that was originally built in 1928. The windows throughout were all refurbished and replaced. A brand new mahogany door was built to replace the weathered original that leads you into a modestly size foyer with an exposed 2nd floor landing and small pantry closet with a window to the left. Just ahead of the foyer is the main living room with custom built in shelving and storage along with a brand new fireplace mantle.

Maintaining the charm of the roaring 20's home was a priority for this remodel, while managing to elevate each room with a modernized taste.

From the living room there is a small hallway whose first exit to the right leads directly into the formal dining room whose rounded ceiling corners pair perfectly with the living space. The formal dining room can also be accessed from the foyer at the bottom of the encircling staircase, then leads you into a breakfast nook that has access to both the outdoor garden as well as the kitchen. The kitchen has all custom cabinetry and marbled countertops along with a laundry nook by the back door. Back in the hallway towards the living room is a downstairs washroom and a bedroom.

The upstairs landing leads immediately into the master bedroom & ensuite. A linen closet is next to the bedroom entrance & is opposite the doorway into the library with a full wall of custom builtin bookshelves next to a window reading nook. The library also has french door access to an outdoor balcony. Further down the hall is another washroom and a full custom office on the back corner of the house.
